August 15: Fan Appreciation Night + Midseason Cham...

8/6/2020
We had to cancel the Night of Destruction. As you know, we've had to reshuffle a lot. But here's an exciting announcement: On Saturday August 15, we're holding our midseason championships. That's racing in all six divisions and you can see it all for just $5. Yep, it's Five Dollar Fan Appreciation Night. All general admission tickets $5 after the initial Fan Appreciation Night was rained out. No mask, no entry! That goes for the pits, the grandstand, anywhere. The Ohio mask mandate means you...more

Rained Out August 1

8/1/2020
Unfortunately, the rain hit at the wrong time. Our August 1 Fan Appreciation Show is off. Next Saturday Aug. 8 we host the Ohio Gold Cup. Later this week we'll post full details on divisions and more. Compacts coming from Midvale: You're welcome to join us. Your car must fit either Barberton or Painesville rules to be eligible to run. As always, we post announcements and updates first on our Facebook page, so follow us there. One more reminder since many have asked: The Night of Destruction...more

Fan Appreciation Night: Saturday August 1

7/27/2020
We appreciate all your support, and we're showing it this Saturday with our $5 Fan Appreciation Night. Yep. You get in for just 5 bucks. We're running all six divisions plus Painesville Warriors. It's going to be loud and it's going to be wild. We've been working with the county health department all along to make sure we're establishing and following the right COVID guidelines. We can go up to half our normal capacity, so come on out. The mask mandate applies and means you must wear it when...more

Race Recap: 7/25

2020 has been an emotional challenge for many. Between disease, issues both national and local, and just an overall sense of longing for good times, another tough hand was dealt to many when news broke early Thursday of legendary Scott Baker’s passing to cancer. Baker supplied advice, cars, parts, and help to many drivers and was THE guy to go to when something seemed off. A tough racer in his own right, Baker was someone that was almost unbeatable. If you were able to beat him, your season...more
About the Ohio mask mandate

About the Ohio mask mandate

7/20/2020
To our fans, drivers, supporters and all involved: It started with Summit County being designated as a red-level county and now Ohio is under a mask mandate. We have already had racing cards under this mandate and we've had few issues, but we just wanted to issue this reminder so it's accessible for as long as this mandate lasts. Our goal is to create AND maintain a safe environment for all involved and to allow this race season to go on in these different times. We ask for continued...more

As the Summer season continues on in 2020, fans were greeted with yet another fantastic weekly show at Barberton Speedway. And it had everything, fast hard-fought features, a father-son battle of the ages for $2,000, and a season record for fastest program with the final checkers falling 2 hours and 38 minutes after the first green flag. It was surely a night to remember, and for those that braved the oppressive heat, they had plenty to go home talking about, and memories to keep for years to...more

KITCHEN, MULROONEY, WALKER, ALLENSWORTH, J. TAYLOR, SOMMERS WIN WILD RACES! BARBERTON SPEEDWAY With everything that mother nature threw at the track this season from viruses, to excruciating heat, to rainouts, Greg Prunty and his team at Barberton Speedway decided to roll the dice on Saturday's racing program. With rain in the forecast for much of the early morning, it appeared that as long as it didn’t rain out so much that the track was lost, racing could happen. Thankfully mother nature...more

Some schedule notes and reminders

7/8/2020
A few quick and important things... As for a revised schedule, we're running every Saturday at the usual time unless otherwise noted (or unless some outside force intervenes). We plan to run through October and we'll schedule Cavalcade, Season Championships and anything else once we get through a few more weeks. Re: the Night of Destruction in August, the answer is hopefully. We don't know. It will depend on COVID restrictions and availability of certain things. Many of you have asked and...more

GARDNER, MULROONEY, D. WOOD, WHITE, MAZZAGATTI, and SHREFFLER Put On a Display For the 4th of July! BARBERTON SPEEDWAY: After the first rain delay of 2020 coming just a week before, fans were treated to nice warm weather and a nicely packed pit area with many of this area’s best giving Barberton a shot as Barberton was stop two in a three day race program that encompassed Ohio. With Midvale running Friday, and Lorain running Sunday, drivers entered Barberton with much on their minds. Were...more
